Industrial Deafness. You may be entitled to compensation including hearing aids.

Understanding Noise-Induced Hearing Loss (NIHL)

NIHL is one of the most common occupational hazards affecting workers in high-risk industries like construction, mining, mechanical, agriculture, public sector (Council’s, transport, roads and infrastructure)  and manufacturing. It occurs when hair cells in the inner ear are damaged due to exposure to loud noises, leading to permanent hearing impairment.

If you have been employed in a noisy environment in New South Wales and suffer hearing loss, you may be entitled to hearing aids and in certain circumstances lump sum compensation for hearing loss.

The New South Wales workers compensation scheme is complicated; different processes and entitlements apply depending on whether you are a Coal Miner, Police Officer, Firefighter (retained or volunteer), or Emergency Services Worker, volunteer or any other type of worker employed in a noisy environment.

Our expert lawyers can assist you to navigate and demystify this process.
